Welcome to the Group’s Social Page.

As well as all the walks planned for the months ahead there's a busy programme of socials - from rounders and racing to weekends away.  Everyone is welcome, and I would especially like to see some new faces.  You don't need to be a regular walker or even a member to come along and see what the social side of the Group has to offer.  I try to put on a mix of events, so hopefully there's something for everyone this summer.

Feel free to contact me at jonbates69@hotmail.com or on 07886 708336 if you have any suggestions for future activities or events, or if you come across any special offers that may be useful to the Group.  Keep an eye on the message board, as well as the regular emails.

Everyone is welcome, and we are always keen to see people who are new to the Group.

Jon (Social secretary)

Friday 26th – Monday 29th Sept

Cumbria Coastal Way, Parts 11 & 12 ‘Long Weekend’

Provisional walk plan:

Saturday : Nethertown to Harrington (13m)
Starts off with some tough walking on the stony beach at Nethertown which eases off as we approach St Bees. Then it’s the exciting cliff top path around St Bees Head before a gentle descent towards civilisation at Whitehaven. The last stretch is an interesting stroll along an old railtrack to the harbour at Harrington.

Sunday: Harrington to Maryport (13m)
Not the most scenic section as this part of the coast was heavily industrialised but the relics are quite interesting and the walking is very easy to the last port in England on the west coast and the promise of the Solway Firth to come.

Accommodation:
We’ll be staying at Skiddaw View Holiday Park at Bothel. Cost (for those not already booked) approx £65. Doesn’t have the same facilities as Brockwood but good access to Cockermouth and Keswick. Contact Mike (07767 371437) to book.
