Funding for Group Breaks
Over the last few years a number of group weekends have either not broken even or have been at risk from not breaking even. This has resulted in group funds being used to subsidise weekends away. Due to reduced grant from Ramblers this situation cannot continue.
In order to take a consistent approach to group weekends and in order to ensure that anyone thinking of arranging a group weekend is aware of the situation in terms of the use of group funds the following policy has been agreed by the Committee.
Policy 1 Group funds will not be available to subsidise group weekends or to make up any shortfalls should an event not break even, instead 2 anyone arranging a group break may request a loan from group funds up to a value of £100 for payment of accommodation deposits. 3 Any loan must be repaid in full to the group no later than the date of the weekend away. 4 It will be the responsibility of the organiser of the weekend to collect any fees due from members attending the weekend. 5 Any shortfall in fees collected will not be deducted from the loan repayment. 6 This policy applies to all group breaks including the annual Christmas weekend.
It is with reluctance that the Committee has issued this policy as it does not wish to discourage people volunteering to arrange weekends away for members. Those who arrange weekends for members do so on a voluntary basis and often at an initial cost to themselves. In order to secure the future of group weekend breaks members who wish to attend weekends are encouraged to commit to them at an early date, rather than waiting until very near to the date of the break. This will help in avoiding cancellations or last minute changes in arrangements.
