LYPWG - the Lancashire Young Persons Walking Group
Advice & Information

New to walking and need a bit of guidance? The links below should hopefully get you underway.

Note that the Walk Leader Access link is for Walk Leaders registered with the Group and requires a log in.

Walks Diary

Potential members are welcome to try out a couple of walks before deciding to become a member of the Group, which entails joining the Ramblers' Association. For information about joining the Group click here or 'phone the Ramblers' Association direct on 0207 339 8500.

If you are new to the group and do not have a lot of experience walking (wanders around the park and local shopping trips do not count!) please ensure that you read the Advice & Information section to the left of this web page; it could save you a lot of hassle and discomfort! In addition, new and potential members are advised to contact the walk leader of any walk that they intend to go on. This way the walk leader can introduce themselves and will know to keep an eye on you whilst you gain walking experience with LYPWG.

Please remember that your walk leaders are volunteers who give up their time freely in order to hopefully deliver a good walking experience to our members and potential members. If you'd like to volunteer to lead a walk and wonder where to get started, please click on the relevant link on the left of this web page.

Can't find a walk you'd like to do? Don't forget, LYPWG is one of seven groups that are part of the mid-Lancashire Area and there are likely to be several walks offered by the are over any one weekend, as well as the special interest walk programme, the MAP. Alternatively, our 'sister' 20's-30's groups, Fillyaboots, MAD, Take-a-Hike and Summit Good might have something more to your tastes.
